WHAT YOU'LL NEED WHEN YOU HIT THE JUNKYARD THIS SEASON
HOW TO CREATE A TOOLBOX WITH CHEAP & REPLACEABLE TOOLS
For the toolbox, an old military box will do the trick. You can pick them up online on Amazon.com or at any military surplus store. They are cheap, durable and waterproof so it'll be everything you need and much more. You can even stand on it for a few more inches or use it as a hammer.
The common wrenches are always a must. Whether it's taking off rusty bolt or using it to take off a hose. The sizes you'll need and we find most common are 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", and 3/4" sizes.
You know, Autoweek made a good point with this one. The crescent wrench has become a common name just like Kleenex so any generic brand will work. It'll help you get those weird bolt heads that the normal wrench just can't get.
Pliers, everything you'll need when you can't grab that tricky part or just need some extra mini jaws of death.
Something so simple but we use them almost every time we work on something, screw drivers. You'll need both phillips + and flat heads - when completely you're cheap tool box. Can easily find these at a thrift store, or any store for that matter for pretty dang cheap.
A ratchet and socket set would be the bees knees. Even if you throw in some extensions that'll come in handy even more. Make sure it works though and go from right to left. You don't want to get out in the yard and find out your ratchet is broken, well it goes for any tool. So make sure to check them.
Last but certainly not least, a box knife. You'll need it more than you think, whether it's cutting hoses, seats or plastic. Trust us on this one, you'll be grateful when you see it in you toolbox.
That's mostly all you'll need when you get out there to the ever so needed junkyards. Plus with the military box, there will always be room for extra tools you find you'll need along the way.

Ferrari Calling Back Already Rare Ferrari's!
NO RECALL, SAYS FERRARI, JUST AN "INVITATION"
The already rare and limited LaFerrari hypercars are being sent back to service for an update/paint job to the fuel tank. According to Ferrari, the so called "upgrade" is not a recall but just something they may have missed during production.
Ferrari states, "Due to a possible incorrect adhesion of a layer of paint on the fuel tank, some clients have been invited to take their cars to an authorized service center to substitute the fuel tank with a new one with new paint.”
But how many Ferrari's are actually affected?! According to Ferrari, only a limited amount of the fuel tanks are of concern. “The time to change the fuel tank is relatively short and the intervention concerns only a limited number of LaFerraris,” Ferrari said.
However, according to Autoblog.nl, there's more to the story including a fire risk, but more importantly the fact that Ferrari is upgrading the tanks with a non-conducting surface. The accusations seem realistic when a picture of a LaFerrari has already been spotted inside a German shop for servicing of the recent problem.
Maybe Ferrari made too many of the limited LaFerrari and forgot the classic phrase, "quality over quantity."

Dad Finds Out His Son is Sleeping With His Car
We all have our own little twerks here and there, some of us even have addictions, but this kid is on a whole new level.
Love is Love. Right?
Thank goodness for The Learning Channel and it's educational content. What would we do, if we had never learned about strange addictions, especially car addictions. If not taken seriously, our own love for our cars could get out of hand, escalating quickly until we have no one else left to love.Tuesday, February 3, 2015
The New Ford Focus RS
Ford revealed the new Focus RS this morning on their Facebook page and other Medias.
Inside EVO also released a new new video going over the details of the new car right after the release.
So far... We know that the new Focus RS will be sold world wide and features Fiesta-esk Rally Cross styling and a Formula one inspired rear end.
The front grille has been designed specifically for air flow, featuring more a honey-comb mesh than a plastic as seen on the new 2015 WRX STI.
EVO reported that ford was "coy" on the new engine only telling them of a 6800 RPM Redline and that it will come with the 2.4 Liter Eco-Boost from the UK Mustang, but with new reinforced cylinders, heads and head gaskets for increased heat tolerance. The eco-boost turbo will have a new Twin Scroll design. The new RS will also have Torque Vectoring, 4wd drive train, up to 70% transfer to rear end and 100% to front end control along with lateral grip of 1G.
Ford Boasts of controlled over-steered drifts on tracks, Brembo Brakes, Adjustable Suspension, new front knuckles and shorter link arms for the front end with stiffer everything all around.
The price tag is not yet known, but EVo is guessing an HP range of over 350hp and under 30,000 Euros. (probably about 32-35,000 USD)
The interior is staged with blue-stitching on the steering wheel and Recaro Seats with RS stitching that will match the paint job. The steering wheel has adapted to, and looks very similar to the Subaru 2015 STI and WRX, featuring a a sport flat bottomed wheel and aggressive styling. We actually see a lot of similarities between the two makers.
The car will come in 5 colors.
Liquid Blue (Show Cars Only)
Stealth Grey
Absolute Black
Frozen White
Nitrous Blue
SuperCars of London also showed a sneek peek of PRO Rally driver KEN BLOCK showing off a little bit in the new ride.
Fords Official Revealing followed by EVO and Supercars London Videos.

Hyundai's Exobaby
Have you seen this?
This Hyundai Ad has gone viral on social media, with over 14 million views on Youtube. The baby's exosuit in the ad symbolizes Hyundai's new in car safety tech that detects irregularities on the road. It looks to be another set up like Subaru's eyesight. It's a bit odd, or... Creepy. How does this make you feel?

Utah Car Cents Gas Tip
See a tanker at the gas station? Keep Driving...
We have spoken about this from time to time on the Radio Show and Podcast, but we thought this a great tip for the blog as well. Gasoline goes through quite the refining process, but small particles still make through from time to time and eventually build up. In turn, these particles can eventually end up in your own gas tank and cause problems. These problems can become a serious issue when it comes time to refill that gas tank of yours. Filters become clogged, fuel gets cut off and engines can misfire.
When the giant tanks at the gas station are replenished, all the new fuel coming in stirs up the sediment at the bottom, which then makes it easier to get into your tank. So if you are in need of gas and see a tanker at the station, wait a bit or keep on driving. Once the new fuel has been replaced and has settled, all the gunk will end up on the bottom of the tank again, making it much harder to find its way into your car.

Tis the Season for Car Shopping
Adage.com Reports Strong Selling December for Lexus, Mercedes and more.
The Auto industry usually has a tremendous budget when it comes to advertising and marketing spend. Lexus launched their traditional December to Remember event for Christmas this year, (seen below) and they are now celebrating a great month.
Mercedes has had a good month as well, pushing their 2015 Mercedes C Class.
Audi, Mercedes and Subaru are trending this month as well.
The Auto Industry still seems to be thriving considering the consumer index has had a slow growth since November, ending at 92.6 from the expected 94, as described by the Wall Street Journal. 2014 was kind of an off year for Car companies and the Super bowl this year. Many of the commercials fell short of expectation or were just flat out weird demonstrating oddly shaped creatures, red pills, blue pills and angel wings.
We'll continue to watch the trends and report on the best and worst selling cars of the year.

Portland Takes Legal Action Toward Uber
Portland's City Transportation Bureau Is Suing Uber.
It's the same dispute that came up in Salt Lake City Utah and other cities across the nation, it comes down to certain laws regarding for-hire vehicles and their licensing. Greg Kumparak reports
that the city has issued a "cease and desist commanding Uber to halt operations".
The city hasn't stopped there, they are going after Uber and Independent Uber Drivers by issuing fines up to $2,250 dollars.
As always, Uber is ignoring the legal demands of Portland and other cities, the question is whether or not Uber will back drivers who are fined or not. If they don't, than they may see a fast reduction in drivers overnight due to Portland's strict ruling.
On November 26, Salt Lake City Council threw the brakes on Uber and Lyft. Both companies were already operating illegally, but not without a cause. Uber and Lyft insist they "are not transportation companies, but rather only provide a platform by which freelance drivers can coordinate with would-be riders". Uber and Lyft have seen a big response from the public and rightfully so, as per Salt Lake City's transportation companies are owned and operated by the airport. Why would the public adhere to ridiculous 30 minute minimum or $30 charge. (Something Salt Lake has changed recently).
Long story short, Portland isn't allowing any slack on ride sharing but Lyft and Uber continue to operate and pay fees for drivers while fighting the battle for freelance drivers and would-be riders. This is their way around liability issues.

Gymkhana 7 and the Hoonigans

Gymkhana no.7 has just been released by the Hoonigan team featuring Ken Block and his Hoonicorn, an 845hp AWD Ford Mustang.
Just about once a year Ken Block performs a some kind of gymkhana stunt in the city, from San Fransisco to Los Angeles and more. "Gymkhana is is a type of motorsport. Similar to autocross, the goal of gymkhana is to achieve the fastest time possible; memorizing the course is a significant part of achieving a fast time. The name is loaned from the equestrian discipline of gymkhana." as told by Wikipedia.
This would be Ken Blocks 7th Gymkhana stunt over the years. He ventures the freeways, undergrounds and roads of Los Angeles, performing hooniganism along the way. From Donuts around Randy's Donuts to a subtle pun related to OJ Simpson's police chase.
Gymkhana is now a viral sensation featuring drifting, stunts and burnouts It shows the power of GoPro and what you can do if you can afford to pay the LAPD to shut down the streets of L.A.
