News has been announced that Nissan has just given the OK for it's innovators and engineers to begin working on a new hybrid version of their hit super car.  Nissan is working hard to keep up with the hefty US and European C02 regulations and emissions. 

This will be the 5th Version of the Skyline GT-R and is expected to debut by 2017.  This is all in effort to boost MPG and meet or exceed the standards of emissions in both countries.  The only worry is the obvious, if you're buying a Nissan GT-R, MPG's and Emissions is the last thing you care about. It's the raw power and extreme force of a twin-turboed launch mode that gets the socks rockin', will a hybrid be a killjoy? 

It is said that at the moment, Nissan is leaning between two different options: 

• The first being a full on, revamped traditional hybrid system
• The second being a set variety of generalized options, such as Turbo/Generator set up to save power along with a Cylinder Deactivation option.  

A system to look much like Infinity's Essence Hybrid system sporting two clutches, an inverter and a Lithium-ion Battery. 

The GT-R is what defines the new super car for all of us enthusiasts; something to which has big shows to fill while taking on some kind of a hybrid system.

 A new casket company out of Sun City California is taking the road to the afterlife seriously. The Sun City company is known as Cruisin Caskets and their motto, “Going out in Style”. 

 Cruisin Caskets are car shaped coffins that can embody the shape of any make and style of car, from the 1950’s to today’s modern style.  The car-designed coffins open like a conventional coffin and features the upholstery as standard coffins.   Cruisin Caskets have a fiberglass body and come in a variety of colors.  The best part, is the company advertises the coffin as a giant cooler filled with ice as well. Just in case you a ready to buy before you actually need the thing.

Could a system of gears be a sign of the past for the automatic transmission? CVT technology was a new concept a few years ago, but the technology has come a long way over the past decade.  

CVT, it stands for Continuously Variable Transmission, and continuous it is. No gears; no shifting, in-fact the concept has been around for over 500 years.

A Timeline of CVT Innovation

•         1490 - da Vinci sketches a stepless continuously variable transmission
•         1886 - first toroidal CVT patent filed
•         1935 - Adiel Dodge receives U.S. patent for toroidal CVT
•         1939 - fully automatic transmission based on planetary gear system introduced
•         1958 - Daf (of The Netherlands) produces a CVT in a car
•         1989 - Subaru Justy GL is the first U.S.-sold production automobile to offer a CVT
•         2002 - Saturn Vue with a CVT debuts; first Saturn to offer CVT technology
•         2004 - Ford begins offering a CVT
•         2013 - Standard.

.iTunes Radio to Partner with Nissan Motors.

APPLE HAS SPOKEN

A recent Apple software release of iOS7 and new iPhone's appeared atop headlines everywhere from the Wall Street Journal, to every teenage blog in existence.  Utah Car Cents will in turn chip in our piece of news related to the Automotive Industry...

We all knew the day would come, with the giant Apple is, that they would ease their way into some type of vehicle.  The bright fruit will appear within Nissan Motors in the near future.  Plan to see iTunes radio in 3 new models:

1. Rouge
2. Versa Note
3. Leaf EV

iTunes radio is Apple's equivalent of Pandora and Spotify, allowing the user to choose the type of music they would like to hear.  Selecting songs you love and enjoy whilst dismissing songs that leave a bad ringing in the ears.  Nissan's vice president of North American, Jon Brancheau states: "We see iTunes Radio as an integral part of our new vehicle launches and 'big moments,' riding the wave of interest and usage of this exciting new service to maximize exposure of Nissan's new models."
